There was an interview
While home sick the other day battling the flu or some bug and got a chance to watch my local marketplace PBS station. There was an interview given by Mr. Charlie Rose and the interviewee was Mr. Tim Cook. The taping of the interview was done in late 2015, so the conversation was not about the latest controversy with Apple v.s. the government. In my humble opinion that whole topic is a joke.
The interview focused on what would be the next frontier Apple would want to conquer in the marketplace and Mr. Cook would not let Charlie force his hand.
I found Mr. Cook to be very direct and forthcoming with his answers. And what surprised me the most was his ability to laugh a lot during the interview, which in of itself made me feel like I should get to know him myself. He struck me as a very happy man, and not because he is making billions of dollars, but because he is complete as a person. His passion for simplifying everything that Apple puts out in the marketplace to help solve some of the daily challenges connected to daily living. The store layout, the genius bar, the teaching forum Apple offers at not cost, set the company apart from so many. As going says success start from the top, just need some good foot soldiers to carry out the marching orders and they have done that well.
talked about the Apple watch
They talked about the Apple watch and Tim shared a story of a fourteen year boy playing football and his watch indicated his heart beat level were to high. The boy went to see his doctor, who informed him that had he not come he would have died the following day. Although Charlie continued to try and get the 411 on what next at Apple, Tim continued to smile or laugh. That my friends is rare to see a CEO on his level be so complete.
What I got from the interview
What I got from the interview which I believe is compelling is that Apple is going after the television market. So the networks and cable carriers have better step up the games. And the best part is Mr. Cook is not looking at content, they are looking ways to bring programing completely under the control of the consumer.
That would change the marketplace dramatically, if people did not have to tune in a particular time in front of their TV to view a program I just might be too tired to watch at moment. Now that sound exciting to me.
Tim also talk about the failures
Tim also talk about the failures that Apple got into that did not work like Apple maps. He said it was a learning experience and they will make more mistakes and through those shortcoming the company will continue to grow.
Apple has already change the marketplace globally with the iphone, ipad, itunes, ipods , Apple TV and Apple watch, there is more to come and the marketplace will buy, because Apple is more about making it feel right, then making the deal.
If you looking to have your people feel right about buying your product or service I have a marketing system that does all of that and a bag of chips.
